School board, teachersOK three-year contract
CORTLAND -- Lakeview Board of Education has approved a three-year contract with teachers more than two months before the old contract was set to expire.
The more than 150 members of Lakeview Teachers Association will get raises of 21/2 percent next year, then 3 percent and 4 percent over the second and third years, said Superintendent Matt Chojnacki.
The teachers also agreed to switch to a medical plan shared by most school districts in Trumbull County, he said.
They will continue paying 5 percent of that cost.
The contract was approved by the board of education Monday after approval by the union last week.
A mediator has been called in to settle an impasse in negotiations between the board and the Lakeview School Support Association, which represents more than 65 nonteaching employees, Chojnacki said.
That contract is also set to expire Sept. 1.
