AUCTIONS
XFriends of Fashion will hold a cocktail party and silent auction at 6:30 p.m. Friday at the Kent State University Museum Atrium, 226 Rockwell Hall, Kent, for the benefit of the Shannon Rodgers/Jerry Silverman School of Fashion Design and Merchandising as well as the museum. A variety of items will be available, and there will be a grand door prize awarded for a $5,000 shopping spree.
FESTIVALS
XSt. Ambrose Church, 10692 Freedom St., Garrettsville, will hold its 43rd annual chicken dinner festival from 3 to 8 p.m. Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday. Chicken dinners will be served at a cost of $7 for adults and $4 for children. Takeout service will be available. The event also will feature entertainment, a bocce tournament, Chinese auction, bingo, children and adult games, and raffles. XSt. Pius X Parish, 1401 Moncrest Drive, Warren, will hold a family festival from 6 to 11 p.m. Thursday and Friday, 5 to 11 p.m. Saturday and 4 to 11 p.m. Sunday. A rummage sale will be held from 10 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Thursday and Friday and from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday. Rides, food, games of chance, entertainment and raffles also will be part of the activities.
XSts. Peter and Paul Church will hold a feast day and homecoming picnic Saturday on the parish grounds. Tamburitza music will be played for the noon Mass, and the picnic will be held from 1 to 7 p.m. featuring barbecued lamb, pork and chicken, baked goods and other foods. Entertainment from 1 to 3 will be presented by the Happy Hearts Junior Tamburitzans and Od Srca Adult Tamburitzans, and performing from 3 to 7 will be Skrnski Glas of Cleveland. Admission is $3. Patrons are asked to take lawn chairs. Secure parking is available.
SALES
XClarks Mills United Methodist Church, 3813 Hadley Road, Clarks Mills, Pa., will hold a yard and bake sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Proceeds from the yard sale will benefit the camping fund, and those from the bake sale will benefit children's ministries.
XEaster Seals will conduct a five-day garage sale at Ridgeview Plaza, state Route 422, Warren. Hours for the event are 9 a.m. to midnight July 3 through 6 and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. July 7. An early bird special will be from 7 to 9 a.m. Wednesday with a $5 entry fee and first pick. Donations are being accepted. For additional information call (330) 369-1324.
XEllsworth Presbyterian Youth Group and Kings Daughters will hold a rummage and bake sale from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Ellsworth Presbyterian Church, state Route 224 at Ellsworth Road, Ellsworth Township.
