COLUMBIANA CORNER Wanted: A desk for the county commissioner

Columbiana County Commissioner President Jim Hoppel is looking for a new desk.
Hoppel inherited his courthouse office from former county Commissioner Mike Halleck.
Until recently, Hoppel had used the large desk and office furniture Halleck left behind. But the items belong to Halleck.
Halleck, who's running for the 6th U.S. Congressional District seat, recently had the desk and other furniture removed because he needs the items at his campaign office, Hoppel said.
Honored for service
Salem City Council recently adopted a resolution honoring utilities Superintendent Don Weingart for 50 years of service to the city.
Weingart started working for Salem when he was 17.
After council adopted the resolution, city Auditor Jim Armeni noticed an interesting coincidence.
The resolution number just happened to be 52. Weingart started with the city in 1952.
