The Garmans feted for 50th during reception



CAMPBELL -- Retired Col. and Mrs. Maurice C. Garman, 528 Sycamore Drive, were guests of honor during a reception June 2 at St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church fellowship hall for the celebration of their 50th wedding anniversary.
The honoree' daughter and son-in-law, Dr. and Mrs. James (Kathleen) Lazor of Vienna, and three granddaughters were host and hostesses of the event that followed a Divine Liturgy.
The former Kaye Leshinsky and Mr. Garman were married May 18, 1952, at St. John the Baptist Church. They are members of the church.
Mrs. Garman is a former administrative assistant of the CASTLO Project in Struthers, having been appointed in 1978 by the late Gov. James Rhodes when he was in office. She retired from that position and is a legal secretary at the law firm of Blair and Latell in Niles.
Col. Garman is retired from the U.S. Army after 33 years of service, having served with the Third Army during World War II and with the First Cavalry Division, Combat Engineers, in Korea. He retired in 1985 from the State of Ohio Department of Transportation, where he was a project supervisor.
The Garmans are members of the national, district and local chapters of the Fellowship of Orthodox Christians, for which Mrs. Garman is district treasurer and a past national secretary and he is a past national president. The couple recently were awarded the Order of Saint Innocent Bronze Medal in recognition of their service to the Orthodox Church in America.
Col. and Mrs. Garman also are members of the national, district and local chapter of Reserve Officers Association and the Campbell O Club.
Mrs. Garman is recording secretary of the Century Association of St. Tikhon's Orthodox Seminary, South Canaan, Pa. Her husband is vice president of St. John's church council and a member of the American Legion.
