Scramble planned as benefit for hearing and speech center
HOWLAND -- A charity golf classic will be held July 29 at Avalon Lakes Golf Course for the benefit of the Youngstown Hearing & amp; Speech Center.
The event will be a four-person amateur golf scramble beginning with a shotgun start at 12:30 p.m. The field is limited to 144 golfers, and soft spikes and appropriate golf attire are required.
Entry fee of $175 per golfer covers 18 holes of golf and cart, refreshments on the course, lunch buffet, dinner buffet, open bar and golf shirts. The top four teams will be awarded cash prizes of $600, $400, $300 and $200, respectively. There also will be awards for individual contests for closest to the pin, longest drive and longest putt, as well as a two-year lease on a Cadillac Deville for a hole-in-one.
Registration and lunch will begin at 11 a.m., and an open bar will be available at 3:30 p.m. A social hour will take place at 6 p.m. prior to the awards dinner at 6:30.
