KEYSTONE CLIPS Group plans dream of a fund-raiser

They're calling it "A Midsummer Night's Dream," and though it shares the name of a play by William Shakespeare, this Aug. 11 event is a bit different.
It's a summer fund-raising gala for the Mercer County Unit of the American Cancer Society and it will be held on the grounds of the Buhl Mansion on East State Street in Sharon.

Fund raising
Thiel College has been setting annual records in educational fund raising.
The college raised record highs of $3.7 million in 1999-2000, $3.8 million in 200-01 and $4.1 million in 2001-02.
The successful effort hasn't gone unnoticed by others.
Thiel has earned a 2002 Circle of Excellence Award for superior educational fund raising from the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE).
Thiel was recognized in the Overall Improvement category of the annual awards program and had won the same award in 1999.
CASE is the largest international association of education institutions, providing resources for professional development and standards for education fund raising, communications and alumni relations.
State grant
Lawrence County is getting a $125,345 state grant to help crime victims.
State Rep. Frank LaGrotta of Ellwood City, D-10th, said the grant will be used to provide counseling, support groups, crisis intervention, legal aid, escorts to the hospital and courtrooms and assistance in filing victim compensation forms.
The money will got to local domestic violence and rape crisis centers, Mothers Against Drunk Driving, victims organizations and shelters, he said.
