HAUTHOR RECOMMENDS 'DEER-O-SCAPING' YARDS

Keeping deer out of the garden involves more than just spraying a little repellent around. It requires understanding what attracts them and taking steps to eliminate those lures.
Author Rhonda Massingham Hart helps homeowners develop a strategy to discourage uninvited diners in "Deer Proofing Your Yard & amp; Garden." Hart, a master gardener, not only gives deer-proofing ideas, but she explains deer behavior and preferences so readers can better understand what attracts and deters the animals.
Hart recommends what she calls "deer-o-scaping," landscaping that avoids use of plants that deer prefer, relies on plants that deer don't like and incorporates garden designs that discourage the animals. The book includes plant lists, suggested garden layouts, a discussion of deer deterrents and their effectiveness, fencing ideas and deer-management strategies that communities can undertake.
"Deer Proofing Your Yard & amp; Garden" is published by Storey Books. It is priced at $12.95 in paperback.

This could be the death of pink Fruit of the Looms.
Woolite has introduced Dye Magnet, a laundry additive that's intended to keep colors from transferring in the wash. The product comes in the form of disposable sheets that are added to the wash cycle, where they trap loose dye and dirt that otherwise can end up on clothing.
A package of 20 sheets has a suggested retail price of $3.99.
