Family sues Youngstown radio station

YOUNGSTOWN -- The family of a teenage Poland girl is suing radio station WNCD 93.3, saying the girl was hurt by the radio station's mascot last summer.
Filed in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court, the suit says Ashley Buza was on U.S. Route 224 in Boardman in June 2001 when The Wolf mascot grabbed her head and pulled it back. The radio station goes by the nickname "The Wolf."
Atty. James E. Lanzo, who filed the suit, said the incident happened during the 2001 Hot Rod Super Nationals. The girl, who was 15 at the time, sustained injuries to her back, left arm and shoulder and suffered headaches, the suit says. It seeks unspecified damages.
William Kelly, general manager of Clear Channel Youngstown, said he was not aware of the lawsuit and so declined to comment. Clear Channel operates several radio stations in Youngstown, including WNCD. Clear Channel is also named as a defendant in the suit.
