Traffic stop ends in charges for man

POLAND -- A routine traffic stop in the township landed a Youngstown man in police custody.
Jelonn D. Dodson, 21, of Byron Street advised a township officer Wednesday evening that he was driving under suspension after he was stopped at state Route 170 and Windgate Road for improper display of plates.
Police discovered there also was a warrant out of Mahoning County Court in Boardman for Dodson regarding what police called a family offense.
Police found suspected marijuana in Dodson's shirt and two plastic bags in his front right pants pocket.
While inventorying the vehicle, police found a fully loaded magazine for a semi-automatic pistol and an unloaded Ruger pistol in the glove box.
Dodson was charged with license suspension and drug abuse and given a summons for mishandling a firearm in a motor vehicle.
He was released to a Boardman Township officer, who took him into custody.
Dodson was to appear today for arraignment in Struthers Municipal Court.
