NEW OFFICERS Junior League installs slate, honors members at dinner
Awards for volunteerism were presented also.
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Junior League of Youngstown installed new officers during its annual dinner May 14 at the D.D. and Velma Davis Education and Visitor Center at Mill Creek Park.
Pam Crowe assumed her duties as president of the organization, and her associate officers are Kathy Scheel, president-elect; Pat Greene, vice president; Missy Scheetz, secretary; and Laurie Pavelko, treasurer.
Crowe has been a member of JLY since 1992, having served as project liaison, corresponding secretary, and chairwoman of both the Bargain Bonanza and provisional committees. She was the league's nominee this year for the Athena Award.
A Youngstown native, Crowe studied business at Youngstown State University and resides in Boardman with her husband and their two teen-age children. She works as a Realtor and a site team coordinator for Howard Hanna Real Estate Services.
Crowe has been a member of the Junior Group of Goodwill for nine years, and has served as its president and chairwoman of the hospitality, collectibles and membership committees. She also is immediate past president of the Canfield Band Boosters and is a member of Lockwood United Methodist Church, where she serves as financial chairwoman and is involved in the choir and youth ministry. She also served on the executive council of T.R.A.I.N.S. for two years.
Honored
Also recognized at the dinner were Judy Reardon, Deb Safier and Susan Thompson. The three were honored for having attained sustainer status with the organization. Sustainers must have completed eight years of active membership.
Emeritus status, given to members who have reached the age of 80 or completed 50 years of membership, was conferred upon Emily Powers and Carol Wick.
Stephanie Olson, outgoing president, presented the following awards: Outstanding Volunteer, Beth Cushwa; Unsung Heroines, Karen Naffah and Shirley Smith; and Outstanding Volunteer in Leadership, Chris Dennison.
