Amateur-radio testing
NORTH JACKSON -- Tests for amateur-radio licenses will be given Saturday at 13308 Mahoning Ave.
Signup starts at 8:30 a.m. and testing will begin at 9 a.m. Participants must have two forms of identification -- a driver's license as a picture ID and Social Security card. Other positive identification forms will be necessary if you do not have a driver's license.

Writers group to meet
BOARDMAN -- The writers group Focus on Fiction will meet at Barnes & amp; Noble Booksellers, 381 Boardman-Poland Road, at 4 p.m. Sunday.
Published and unpublished writers meet to exchange ideas, read their current works of fiction and support one another. Writers of all genres are welcome to attend. The event is free.
Closing for road work
YOUNGSTOWN -- New Cross Drive and Cross Drive in Mill Creek Park will be closed beginning Monday for road work. The reconstruction and paving projects are expected to be completed by September.
Access to Bears Den Cabin will be maintained. Access to the lower Bears Den picnic area will be available from the east parking lot off Bears Den Drive.
