YOUNGSTOWN Search for robber leads to 4 arrests

The suspects face charges ranging from a seat-belt violation to trafficking in cocaine.
YOUNGSTOWN -- The investigation into a robbery of a local business has resulted in a number of unrelated arrests.
Police said the owner of Cyclone Motors, 101 W. Indianola Ave., saw a man wearing a blue jacket and yellow shorts leave the office around 8 a.m. Tuesday carrying a cash box and proceeded to chase him into a duplex on West Princeton Avenue.
When officers arrived, they spoke with Paula Parkman, 22, of 49 W. Princeton, who told them no one else was there, but reports said a man was heard coughing in the background.
As Parkman tried to close the door, police entered and found a 19-year-old man on the sofa, who was questioned and released.
A further search of the residence found 28-year-old David M. Haskins hiding in the bathroom.
Police recovered a plastic bag containing three smaller bags of suspected cocaine on the bathroom floor near Haskins, as well as a bag of suspected marijuana on a table in the bedroom.
Haskins and Parkman, who listed 49 W. Princeton as their address, were arrested on outstanding warrants for failing to appear in court.
Haskins, who has warrants pending on charges of resisting arrest and driving under suspension, also was charged with trafficking in cocaine. He appeared Wednesday in Youngstown Municipal Court, and his bond was set at $15,000 on a possession of cocaine charge and $10,000 on a resisting arrest charge.
Parkman, who has a warrant pending on a forgery charge, was charged with permitting drug abuse and falsification. She also appeared in court Wednesday and was given a $1,000 bond on the forgery charge and a $500 bond each on the falsification and drug abuse charges.
As police continued their search of the duplex, they located the missing cash box at 47 W. Princeton.
Suspected robber found
During that search, officers heard someone walking down in the basement; there they found a 30-year-old man, also of 49 W. Princeton, who matched the description of the robbery suspect.
He was charged with theft. He is scheduled for arraignment later today in municipal court.
In the meantime, 19-year-old Candace Van Sickle of Johnstown, Pa., arrived in a red pickup truck, reports said. Officers searched the vehicle after determining it had fictitious license plates.
According to reports, a purse containing several pieces of identification matching two credit cards the robbery suspect dropped at the scene was confiscated.
Police charged Van Sickle with having fictitious plates, noise violation, seat-belt violation and having no operator's license. She appeared in court Wednesday and was released on her own recognizance on the noise and seat-belt violations and was given a $500 bond each on the other charges.
