Girard High is still seeking a boys basketball coach, despite some published reports. Athletic director Joe Cappuzzello said Wednesday night that reports that John Cardiero was hired are not true. According to Cappuzzello, Cardiero will remain as coach at Newbury High, and that Girard's search will continue with interviews.
Browns' Holmeshas knee surgery
Browns Linebacker Earl Holmes had arthroscopic surgery on his right knee Tuesday but is expected to be ready for training camp next month. Holmes, who has problems with both knees, signed a five-year contract as a free agent with Cleveland in April.
LeBron James'mentor in trouble
A father figure to LeBron James is the target of a two-year fraud investigation and will be indicted today, prosecutors said. Eddie Jackson Jr. will be charged following a grand jury investigation of mortgage fraud and money laundering, spokesman Bill Canterbury of the Summit County Prosecutor's office said. Jackson said the investigation had nothing to do with James.
