Injured in I-76 accident
LAKE MILTON -- A New Castle, Pa., man was in stable condition in St. Elizabeth Health Center after the pickup truck he was driving went off Interstate 76 at state Route 534 Wednesday afternoon.
Randy L. Kohnen, 22, of Richlieu Avenue was eastbound on I-76 in the right lane at 4:10 p.m. when he went off the right side of the road, lost control while trying to return to the pavement and slid across the eastbound lanes into the median, the Ohio State Highway Patrol said. The truck flipped over several times, crossed the median and came to rest on its left side in the westbound passing lane.
Kohnen, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected, landing in the median, the patrol said.
Teen to go on trial
STRUTHERS -- Scott E. Duygo, 18, of McClure Street will go on trial July 19 on charges of killing a cat and underage drinking. He pleaded innocent at arraignment in municipal court Wednesday.
Police arrested Duygo at his home just before 11 p.m. Tuesday.
Police reports say Duygo's brother called police for help after Duygo came home drunk and began arguing with others in the household.
During the argument, Duygo walked outside, picked up a black-and-white cat in the yard, swung it around by its tail and slammed it to the ground, reports say.
A judge set his total bond at $11,000 -- $10,000 of it on the underage drinking charge, Duygo's second in the last week.

Assault alleged
STRUTHERS -- A judge here issued a temporary restraining order and set a preliminary hearing for July 10 for Robert A. Douglas, 31, of Center Street, who was arraigned in municipal court Wednesday on charges of domestic violence.
Police reports say Douglas choked his girlfriend, slammed her against a basement wall and threatened to kill her during an argument Monday.
When the girlfriend reported the assault Tuesday, she told police she was afraid Douglas would follow through on his threat if she called for help while he was in her house.
Police reports also say that Douglas told them he was convicted on domestic violence charges in 1999.
His bond was set at $5,000.
Firebomb thrown
YOUNGSTOWN -- Police are searching for a man wanted for questioning in an attempted arson on Liberty Road.
The 52-year-old female homeowner called 911 around 1 a.m. today after she heard a crash and saw a bright flash while sitting in her living room.
Reports said the woman's son was feeding the family dog in the back yard and saw a man he knew run to a vehicle and flee west on Atkinson Avenue. The son refused to speak to police about the matter.
Police recovered a beer bottle suspected of being used to make a Molotov cocktail at the scene. Reports said the firebomb did not penetrate the home and did minimal damage to its exterior. A description of the suspect was not available.

YOUNGSTOWN -- Early-bird groups can meet as early as 7 a.m. in the Poland public library meeting room for functions catered by the library's Chapters Cafe, says the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County board.
The board also decided to add a $10-an-hour security charge for functions with attendance of 50 or more.
Construction of the new Austintown branch is on schedule for a fall opening, said Dr. David Ritchie, board trustee and chairman of the Austintown Library Committee.
