Highlights of Wednesday night's school board meeting:
Retroactively approved professional leaves for five employees who testified before a Trumbull County grand jury about former Superintendent Joseph Shoaf.Half-day leaves for May 24 were granted to Lucille Altiero, superintendent's secretary, and teachers Sam Faccioben, William McSuley, Joseph Naples and Robert Tate.Shoaf was subsequently indicted on two counts of corrupting another with drugs and one count each of intimidating a victim, possession of cocaine and trafficking in cocaine.Accepted the resignation of Tate as French/Spanish teacher.Hired Sam Racketa, head baseball coach; Daniel A. Netich, elementary band director; and John Cardiero, head boys basketball coach.Approved a contract with Humility of Mary Health Partners to provide athletic training for the next school year. Board member Mark Zuppo said having a trainer at games and practices has reduced injuries.Approved a band trip April 21-27 to Orlando, Fla.Hired three teachers under one-year contracts. Stephanie Drewberry will teach comprehensive English; Jennifer Bruner, special education; Eric Teutsch, Spanish.
