Woman faces charges in shooting
YOUNGSTOWN -- A woman accused of shooting her brother-in-law is scheduled to appear in court later today on a charge of felonious assault.
Officers were en route to investigate an attempted robbery in the neighborhood Tuesday morning when they saw the Wydesteel Avenue woman standing in the back yard of a house at 197 W. LaClede Ave., yelling and pointing a rifle at the second-story window.
Police say the Wydesteel woman and her sister entered the home of Derrick and Crystal Tillman, also the Wydesteel woman's sister, upset over ongoing domestic problems between the couple.
Ms. Tillman told police she saw the Wydesteel woman walk up the stairs as her other sister held her downstairs. She then heard a shot and her husband yell, "I'm shot!" reports say.
Police found Tillman in the hallway on the second floor, bleeding from wounds to his left biceps and throat. Officers found the .22-caliber single-shot rifle behind the home, where they saw the Wydesteel woman drop it, reports said. Tillman was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center. A condition report was not available late this morning.
