Man, 57, accused of tire-slashing

BOARDMAN -- Mahoning County deputy sheriffs and township police arrested a 57-year-old Warren man accused of slashing tires and assaulting the vehicle's owner.
Authorities were called to a Meadowbrook Drive residence because an intoxicated man was cutting a vehicle's tires with a knife. When the suspect left the area in a burgundy Cadillac, they followed him to the parking lot of the Terrace Motel, 4972 Market St., reports said.
When deputies stopped the vehicle, the driver, of Washington Avenue N.E. in Warren, jumped out of the car, threw his keys across the parking lot and yelled, "You got me. I slashed the tires."
Deputies found two folding knives as well as a baseball bat in the car. The owner of the Meadowbrook Drive vehicle said the Warren man slashed three of his car's tires and punched him in the chest.
Officers charged the Warren man with carrying a concealed weapon, assault and criminal damaging and took him to the county jail. A court date was set for Thursday in Mahoning County Court here.
