Fires break out at 3 Mercer locations

GREENVILLE, Pa. -- Firefighters across Mercer County were kept busy with three fires reported overnight.
Residents of a duplex at 25 Rosedale Ave., Greenville, were routed from their homes at 11:45 p.m. Tuesday after a fire was discovered on the front porch of the structure.
Fire Chief Steve Thompson said the blaze started in the porch ceiling and a cause wasn't immediately determined.
Hempfield Township and West Salem Township fire crews were put on standby but weren't needed at the scene as Greenville firefighters were able to prevent the fire from spreading, he said.
Springfield Township firefighters were called to the Russell Standard Corp. plant on U.S. Route 19 south of Mercer at 11:40 p.m. Tuesday.
Details weren't available this morning, but the fire damaged a boiler room at the plant.
Hermitage firefighters were called to the scene of a house trailer fire on Bend Road in Lackawannock Township at 12:55 a.m. today.
Details on that fire weren't available either, but initial reports indicate the trailer was extensively damaged.
