CLASS B BASEBALL Academy narrows gap on Propane



Matt Repec hit his third homer in two games for Line Drive.
STRUTHERS -- Line Drive Academy moved within one game of first place with a 7-2 victory over Class B leaders Youngstown Propane Tuesday at Cene Park.
Matt Repec of Line Drive went 3-for-3 with his league-leading sixth home run and third in the last two games.
The Class B league leader in runs batted in had three RBIs to move his total to 25. He also pitched a complete game, yielding six hits.
Repec struck out six, walked just two and allowed no earned runs. Dan Ford added two doubles for Line Drive (13-3).
For Propane (14-2), Marc Sikora went 3-for-3 while Chris Russo had a triple. Propane had won the first of three meetings, 7-6.
In the first inning, Ford led off with a double and moved to third on Vasili Pahoulis' single. Repec singled home one run while the second run scored on a wild pitch.
Propane tied the game in the second on a pair of unearned runs before Repec hit his two-run homer in the bottom of the frame.
Line Drive added two more runs in the fifth and one in the sixth.
Astro Falcons 8, Becdir 0: John Hay pitched a two-hit shutout as Astro (10-6) stays tied with Riordan's for third place.
Hay (3-1) struck out nine and walked just one. Brent Parks had two hits for Astro while Bob Benson hit a sacrifice fly and a two-run double.
Dan Leonard drove in two runs with a double for the Astro's three-run first inning.
Kevin Garland doubled for Becdir (7-9), which lost for the sixth straight time.
Roth Brothers 9, Lazart 7: Josh Skraba went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and also picked up the win for Roth (5-11).
Pat Conley, Bob Dubovec and Anthony Fuller had two hits each for Roth while Matt Smith picked up his first save in getting the last out of the game on a called third strike.
Skraba (2-1) gave up seven hits and struck out six.
Travis Garrett hit a two-run home run for Lazart (2-14) in the bottom of the seventh and Lazart loaded the bases before the game ended.
Steve Franklin, Jason Nolfi and Robert Stull had two hits each for Lazart.
Riordans Sporting Goods 10, Rondinelli 9: Jeff Donston's single in the top of the eighth inning scored the winning run for Riordans (10-6).
Mike Bashline, Brian Smith and Pat Oman had two hits each for Riordans. Oman also had two RBIs.
Josh Wilson pitched 4 2/3 innings of scoreless relief for the win.
Dean Palombaro had two hits, one a double, for Rondinelli (6-10). Greg Rohan had a double and three runs batted in for Rondinelli.
Youngstown Express 4, Livi Steel 2: The Express scored three runs in the first inning on four hits and took advantage of five Livi errors to improve to 7-9.
Jim Huck (2-1) struck out five batters and allowed five hits. Bob Kaaikoula and Mike Turjanica had two hits each for the winners.
Ryan Dillon had two hits for Livi (6-10). Bobby Miller went the distance, allowing three earned runs and striking out nine.
