Woman reports assault
YOUNGSTOWN -- A Broadway Avenue woman told police two females entered her home and hit her over the head.
The 33-year-old said the women came in to her house around 9 p.m. Monday and hit her over the head with a vase, cutting her left hand and the back of her head, reports said.
Police are looking for a black female in her teens, 5 feet 4 inches tall, 190 pounds, short black hair and brown eyes, wearing a blue shirt and a white hat. The other woman is described as being 5 feet tall, 180 pounds, with blonde hair and hazel eyes, wearing a flowered dress.
Repeat calls to 911
YOUNGSTOWN -- Arraignment was set for later today for a city man accused of repeatedly calling 911 for a ride.
Police reports said the 26-year-old West Myrtle Street man called 911 at 12:30, 12:43 and 12:44 a.m. today from a pay phone at the WRTA bus station, saying he needed a ride to the North Side.
He called again at 1:11, 1:23 and 1:25 a.m. from a pay phone at the corner of Oak Hill and Myrtle, but on the final call said his legs were hurting and he needed an ambulance.
Workers with Rural Metro Ambulance told police the same man has called at least seven times earlier this week, but only requests a ride to another location.
The man was charged with misuse of the 911 system, and taken to the Mahoning County Sheriff's Department for booking.
Vandals damage cars
STRUTHERS -- Vandals smashed the windows of several cars, including one owned by the city police chief, over a two-day period.
Reports said Police Chief Robert Norris and a neighbor discovered the driver's side windows of their vehicles shattered about 9 a.m. Saturday on Overlook Boulevard.
The windows appeared to have been broken with a hammer or bar, reports state. The vehicles were last seen intact about 1 a.m.
The owner of another vehicle, parked in the 200 block of Iroquois, reported the rear window of his 1990 Honda Civic had also been smashed early Saturday. He discovered the damage around 10:35 a.m.
Early Monday, a Sexton Street man reported damage to his car. Police reports said the hatchback window of his Plymouth Horizon was shattered by vandals just after 4 a.m.
A neighbor witnessed the vandalism, reports state, and police are searching for a dark-colored car, possibly a Cavalier or Corsica.
Police probe theft
AUSTINTOWN -- Police are investigating the theft of about $2,200 and several cartons of cigarettes early today from Rocky's Brew Thru West on Mahoning Avenue.
Reports state that someone drove a car through the drive-through's garage door about 12:15 a.m., pulling the door from its hinges. The thieves then took the cash register money and the cigarettes and left. A neighbor heard an alarm coming from the business and called the owner, who found the money and cigarettes missing and contacted police.
