Prostate screenings

Prostate screenings
LISBON -- Columbiana County Health Department will offer prostate cancer screenings Thursday and June 27 at the health department, 7360 state Route 45. The free screening includes a blood test and digital rectal exam said Barbara Knee, health department nursing director. She said early detection is key to prostate cancer survival, and men 50 and older should have the test annually. Black men and those with a family history of prostate cancer among fathers, brothers or sons are considered high-risk and should begin testing at 45, she said. Knee said the American Cancer Society statistics show prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men. Men interested in the test should call the health department at (330) 424-0272 for an appointment.
