BASEBALL
Babe Ruth (14-15s)
East Side Kiwanis 13, Commercial Neon 10 -- Matt Backes hit a three-run home run while Jim Kreibel, Jon Kocon and Kevin Sikora all had three hits. Kreibel pitched a complete game with eight strikeouts for the win. Joe Fox had two doubles for Neon.
Line Drive Academy 8, Belleria Pizza 2 -- Grant Sevek (3-0) went the distance and struck out eight for Line Drive. Jesse D'Amico went 2-for-3 and Sean Satterlee doubled. John Foty added a two-run single.
Sluggers 10, Campbell 0 -- Jim Gromada and Adam Miller combined on the one-hit shutout. Tyler Stanley went 3-for-3 with two triples and three RBI's. Greg Sansone and Jim Petrolla each doubled. Brett Grabman added a two-run single.
Tri-T PONY
Struthers St. Anthony's 16, Boardman G F Insulation 7 -- Struthers rallied from a 5-0 deficit. Dan Monus and Chris Anzevino led the comeback by getting three hits each as Struthers scored nine runs in the fourth inning. Ryan Stanko and Tristan Suchora combined for the victory. Mike Barranger hit a home run and a double for Boardman.
SOFTBALL
Valley Sting Purple -- finished second in the 14U division of the Compuware Tournament in Detroit. Sting made the final round of eight teams by defeating Michiana Mystique of Indiana, 8-0; Keystone State Stealers of Pennsylvania, 3-1, and the Kalamazoo Klash of Michigan, 7-4. In a quarterfinal round game, Sting defeated Lady Lasers Blue 10-1; then in a semifinal, Sting rallied with three runs in the seventh inning to defeat Compuware Orange 4-3. In the championship game, Sting lost to Ohio Ice Blue 6-4.
Kasey Karr (Champion) won four games, allowing five runs. Amber Adley (Kingsville) led the offense with nine hits, including a home run, and eight RBIs. Darlene Blott (Kingsville) had 10 hits and Allie Patton (Poland) had nine hits.
