CORTLAND -- Two teenagers are expected to be charged this week in a fire that destroyed a concession stand behind Lakeview High School.
Police Chief Gary Mink said an 18-year-old Lakeview graduate who lives in Warren Township, and a 16-year-old Warren resident face charges of arson, criminal trespassing and criminal mischief.
He said lighter fluid may have been used to start the fire last month, causing an estimated $53,000 in damage.
Mink credited Officer John Weston with solving the crime.
"He put the pieces together and followed the trail and continued to talk to people," Mink said. "He did a fine piece of police work."
McDonald school board
McDONALD -- The board of education has changed the time of its regular meeting Thursday from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
The board will not meet in the high school library as usual, but in the new art room. Signs will be posted to direct visitors.
Trumbull events listing
WARREN -- The Trumbull County Convention and Visitors Bureau is seeking submissions for listing in the fall edition of Passport, a seasonal event and activity guide.
The guide will cover events from September through December.
Appeals court upholdsgambling conviction
WARREN -- An appeals court has upheld the conviction of Alfred Pincione for operating a Howland gambling house, despite his lawyer's contention that he thought it was legal at the time.
In an opinion by Judge Robert Nader, the 11th District Court of Appeals ruled Pincione, of Canfield, acted recklessly in keeping four gambling machines, despite having three letters saying they were legal.
The letters, given to him by the man who sold the machines, were not addressed to Pincione, did not look at the law in Trumbull County and did not address the legal requirements of charitable gambling, the decision said.
Pincione, 71, was sentenced in March to 30 days in jail and fined $1,000.
Lordstown utility issue
LORDSTOWN -- Council approved an ordinance Monday to place on the ballot an electric utility issue.
If voters approve, all residents would be switched to FirstEnergy service and would realize what the company projects as a 4 percent reduction in monthly bills. Residents would be allowed to change to a different electricity provider.
Skate park on schedule
NEWTON FALLS -- The start-up date is still Sept. 1 for Harry Richter Skate Park, which is under construction here.
Council recently approved buying the equipment from Snider & amp; Associates of Parma Heights for $23,814 and installation not to exceed $29,696.
Ham license tests
NORTH JACKSON -- The Twenty Over Nine Amateur Radio Club will be testing for amateur radio licenses Saturday. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m., and testing begins at 9.
Participants must have two forms of identification (driver's license and Social Security card or some other form if there is no driver's license).
Elements 1, 2, 3 and 4 will be given. Any upgrades must have original license and CSCEs and a copy of each.

Motorcycle event
NEWTON FALLS -- Motorcycle Madness 2 is Sunday.
Seventy-five trophies are up for grabs. A poker run heads out of town with a police escort at 10 a.m. on a one-stop 175-mile run to the Motorcycle Memorial in the Harrison County community of Hopedale.
There also will be a bike show, with judging from 4 to 5 p.m. and field events beginning at 5 on downtown streets.
