Bikers raise funds in honor of slain officer

BEAVER, Pa. (AP) -- Nearly 2,000 motorcycles rumbled through three states for a fund-raiser in honor of a rookie police officer who was gunned down as he walked his beat last year.
The bikers traveled 100 miles through West Virginia, Ohio and Pennsylvania on Sunday to raise money for scholarships in honor of officer James Naim, who was killed execution-style at an Aliquippa housing complex on March 15, 2001.
"This sends a powerful message. It's a hell of a tribute to him, to all fallen officers and to the community. It's time for a change," said Paul Naim, the officer's brother, who took part in the ride.
Organizers said they were unsure how much money the ride and a raffle raised for scholarship funds at the Community College of Beaver County, where local officers were trained, and Geneva College, where James Naim had been a student.
