YOUNGSTOWN Control board
The city's control board took action on these spending items and contracts Thursday:
Awarded Broadway Contracting a $347,900 contract for asbestos abatement and demolition at the long-vacant Washington School on the West Side.
Authorized payment of $62,350 to Benesch, Friedlander, Coplan & amp; Aronoff of Cleveland for legal services done for the defunct Youngstown Civic Center Development Corporation, or arena board.
Approved severance of $11,888 for James Thomas, a detective sergeant in the police department who retired May 1.
Approved severance of $130 for Shonice McCamay, a clerk in the police department who resigned Feb. 19.
Approved severance of $1,687 for Lawrence Culver, an officer in the police department who resigned April 26.
Authorized a $9,866 payment to reimburse the city school system for surveillance cameras in school buses.
OK'd a $7,500 contract with Youngstown State University to evaluate the Weed & amp; Seed program.
