Warren man robbed
YOUNGSTOWN -- An armed robber forced a 24-year-old Warren man to strip during a holdup at 5:40 p.m. Saturday on Baldwin Street, city police said. The victim told officers he lost his clothes and $150 during the robbery. He said he was with a friend going to give a jump start to a car when the robber, about 35, pointed a large gun and said "get naked." The man said he, and three others he was with, removed clothing. The robber fled in a gold car.
Teen-dating violence
YOUNGSTOWN -- Free programs on teen-dating violence will be presented by the Red Ribbons Program of the Associated Neighborhood Centers from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Wednesday and Thursday at the McGuffey Centre, 1649 Jacobs Road. Youngstown Police Detective Sgt. Delphine Baldwin Casey will discuss date rape, date rape drugs, assaults and ways to prevent date rape. Other topics will include the prevalence of teens raped or sexually assaulted by an acquaintance such as a classmate, family member, co-worker or partner. Ham radio classes
YOUNGSTOWN -- Mahoning Valley Amateur Radio Association will conduct amateur radio classes for six weeks beginning July 17 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the ITT Technical Institute, 1030 N. Meridian Road. These classes will help students learn basic radio theory in preparation for taking a ham radio license exam. Students successfully passing this exam will earn an entry-level license from the Federal Communications Commission. License exams will be given to students Aug. 28 at the conclusion of the course. The classes are free, but students will be required to purchase a study guide for $15 at the first class. Registration deadline is July 3. Call Jerry or Bonnie Viele at (330) 534-1394.
