PRO SOCCER ROUNDUP | Saturday's games

MLS
Crew 2, Earthquakes 1
COLUMBUS -- Dante Washington came off the bench and scored the game-winner for Columbus. Washington took a pass from Brian Maissoneuve and sent a left-footed shot inside the far post past goalkeeper Joe Cannon in the 83rd minute. Jeff Cunningham assisted on the play. Washington had entered the game 16 minutes earlier. Driving rain and high winds kept both teams from creating chances in the first half until Cunningham scored in the 31st minute for the Crew. Cunningham took a pass from Maissoneuve, dribbled around a defender and sent a right-footed shot inside the far post. Kyle Martino also assisted on the play. San Jose's Dwayne DeRosario tied the game in the 39th minute by dribbling around defender Chad McCarty and sending a shot past onrushing goalkeeper Tom Presthus. Ariel Graziani and Manny Lagos assisted.
Wizards 2, United 0
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Stephen Armstrong scored against his former team in Kansas City's win. Chris Brown scored the Wizards' first goal from outside the box in the 34th minute, bending a pass from Diego Gutierrez past United goalkeeper Nick Rimando. D.C. (4-6-1) was unable to capitalize on either of its two first-half chances. At halftime, Kansas City (3-4-4) substituted Armstrong for Dario Fabbro. The South African took just six minutes to score his first goal with the Wizards, slipping a header past Rimando. Backup goalkeeper Bo Oshoniyi, filling in while Tony Meola is with the United States team in the World Cup, made two first-half saves for his first shutout of the season.
MetroStars 5, Galaxy 0
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Mamadou Diallo scored four goals and Andy Williams had three assists to lead New York-New Jersey. It was the fourth game of three goals or more for Diallo, who scored two goals in each half.
Burn 3, Fire 1
NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- Jason Kreis scored two goals to lead Dallas. Kreis scored his second goal off a free kick in the 68th minute. Chad Deering lifted a free kick toward the goal and Bobby Rhine headed the ball back past Fire defender C.J. Brown to an undefended Kreis, who easily beat goalkeeper Zach Thornton for his second goal of the game. A free kick by Kreis evened the score at 1-all in the 45th minute, after Dema Kovalenko fouled Joselito Vaca. Kreis curved a ball around a five-man wall to beat Thornton from 30 yards. Rhine scored in the 74th minute when he sent a low shot past Thornton after receiving a feed inside the 18-yard box from Paul Broome. John Wolyniec headed in a pass from David Vaudreuil to give the Fire a 1-0 lead in the 39th minute.
Revolution 2, Rapids 1
DENVER -- Taylor Twellman had a goal and an assist as New England ended a three-game losing streak. The goal was Twellman's 10th in 10 starts for New England (4-7-1). Brian Kamler got the game-winner in the second half for the Revolution. Chris Carrieri scored the goal for Colorado (6-5-1), which lost its second straight.
WUSA
CyberRays 4, Power 3
SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Brandi Chastain scored twice and set up the winning penalty kick in San Jose's win over New York. New York's Tiffeny Milbrett, who had never scored a goal against the CyberRays before Saturday, ended the game with a hat trick. San Jose improved to 5-3-2 (17 points), while New York remained in last place in the WUSA (2-7-1, seven points). Four goals are the most the CyberRays have ever scored in a game.
Courage 3, Beat 1
ATLANTA -- Unni Lehn's goal in the 58th minute led Carolina over Atlanta and pushed the Courage into second place in the WUSA standings. Birgit Prinz scored in the 77th minute for the final margin. Carolina (5-1-3), which defeated Atlanta 1-0 earlier this year, improved to 4-0-1 against the Beat. Atlanta (5-4-1), which had won four straight, lost after scoring first for the only time in club history.
Freedom 4 Spirit 0
WASHINGTON -- Mia Hamm had a goal and an assist in her second game back from injury and Abby Wambach scored twice to help Washington beat San Diego. The offensive star for Washington (4-4-3) was Wambach, who has scored in four consecutive games. San Diego (2-6-2) missed on several scoring chances in the second half thanks in large part to a weakened Washington defense, which lost Lindsay Stoecker just before halftime because of a possible ACL injury to her left knee.
Charge 1, Breakers 0
VILLANOVA, Pa. -- Marinette Pichon scored in the fifth minute and Philadelphia held off Boston. Goalie Melissa Moore recorded her third shutout of the season for Philadelphia (6-1-2), which extended its unbeaten streak to four games.
