KEYSTONE CLIPS Child safety seats: Install them right

The Pennsylvania State Police will conduct a child safety seat fitting session Wednesday at its Mercer County station, 826 Franklin Road (U.S. Route 62), just east of Mercer.
Parents who are unsure of their safety seat installations or who want to have some oversee their installation can visit the station between 1 and 4 p.m. that day. Anyone with questions should contact Trooper William S. Williams at (724) 662-6162.
Raindrops keep falling ...
It's been a wet spring and The Shenango Valley has done a good job of catching up on its rainfall, with 6.49 inches of rain reported for May. That's 3 inches more than normal for that month, according to statistics kept by the Shenango Valley Division of Consumers Pennsylvania Water Co.
Normal annual rainfall for the Shenango Valley is 39.35 inches, but the valley got only 34.71 inches of water during all of 2001, about 4.5 inches less than normal.
That shortfall has been more than made up in the first five months of 2003. The water company reported that 19.61 inches of precipitation fell so far this year (snow is reduced to its equivalent in rainfall), and the average for that period is only 14.45 inches.
Grant from state
Lawrence County is getting a $333,000 state grant to pay for housing rehabilitation for low- to moderate-income families, as well as home-to-home bus trips for those on medical assistance and disabled senior citizens, said state Rep. Frank LaGrotta of Ellwood City, D-10th.
The money is from the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development.
