Canfield teen arrested
CANFIELD -- A Glenview Drive teen was arrested Friday after he told police he had a pair of brass knuckles. The boy, 17, was charged with carrying a concealed weapon and warned about violating Canfield's curfew.
The brass knuckles were found stuffed into the back seat of a car police pulled over at 12:11 a.m. on South Hillside Drive. The boy, a passenger, told police he found them at a festival.
Police said they pulled the car over after it went left of center on East Main Street. They said they found two bags containing suspected marijuana and a pipe in the driver's pocket.
The driver, 18, of Herbert Road, was charged with driving under the influence, a separate charge of DUI under 21 years old, drug abuse, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving left of center. Nine cans of beer were found in the trunk.
Police also found two cigarettes in the pocket of the car's other passenger, 17, of Sawmill Run Drive. He was given a ticket for underage possession of tobacco and warned about violating curfew.
Cable company's hiring

Boost in patrols
BROOKFIELD -- Township police are increasing patrols this weekend through Sunday.
Police Chief Daniel Faustino said officers will focus on speeders, seat-belt violators and drunken drivers.

NORTH LIMA -- Brenda Bell of St. Elizabeth Health Center will speak about adult safety issues at the Beaver Township Crime Watch meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the activity center at Shepherd of the Valley, 9111 Sharrott Road.
