New park will be located near school

LOWELLVILLE -- A new park funded by an $84,000 grant from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources could be finished before a new school opens.
Mayor Joseph J. Rossi said the grant has been approved, and plans are under way for the park to be built near a new school building that will house all grades.
The park will include picnic areas, ball fields and whatever else the grant will fund, he said. Construction should be completed within the next four months.
Construction also is slated to begin at the village administration building.
An elevator and new pillars are among additions and renovations planned this summer. Work for the elevator will begin July 1.
The elevator was to have been installed weeks ago, Rossi said, but the wrong one was ordered.
Rossi said he would also like to see a new roof on the building and repairs made to the auditorium.
Overall, Rossi estimates building repairs at a minimum of $75,000.
