HMHP to erect center
YOUNGSTOWN -- There may be more joint ventures between Humility of Mary Health Partners and its physicians, HMHP president Michael Rowan said at a groundbreaking ceremony Wednesday for a new heart and vascular center at St. Elizabeth Health Center.
The center, to be built on Park Avenue next to the hospital, is the first joint venture between HMHP and a group of 15 cardiology individuals and groups.
HMHP owns 51 percent of the operation and the cardiologists 49 percent.
Rowan said the center is the first of many facilities and programs anticipated in conjunction with the physicians.
Also, Rowan said, the investment of about $12 million on the hospital's Youngstown campus not only enables HMHP to continue to offer services to improve the health and quality of life of the community, but demonstrates HMHP's commitment to staying in the city.
Lisa Parish, vice president of heart and vascular services for HMHP, said the new low-risk diagnostic and catheterization facility is expected to be ready for patients by August 2003.
