East Liverpool leader sues

Richard Wolf's lawsuit claims that the school board did not inform him of the time and place of meetings.
LISBON -- An East Liverpool school board member is suing the rest of the panel and its president, saying they held several meetings that violated Ohio law.
Richard Wolf, 934 May St., filed the suit Wednesday in Columbiana County Common Pleas Court. The case has been assigned to Judge David Tobin.
Wolf is asking the court to declare invalid all actions taken at the meetings in question.
One of those actions was a decision not to renew school Superintendent Donald Lowe's contract.
Wolf also is asking the court to order the defendants to forfeit $500 and to pay his attorney fees.
Board President Maureen Aronoff declined Wednesday to comment on the lawsuit, saying she had not yet seen it.
The lawsuit alleges that the board met Feb. 27 in special session without providing to Wolf a proper notice of the meeting's time and place, as is required by law.
The lawsuit makes the same claim regarding a special meeting held March 8.
When the school board held a special meeting April 5, the notice given stated no purpose for the session, the lawsuit claims. The meeting also included a private meeting among board members that was held for no apparent purpose, the lawsuit states.
