MINERAL RIDGE -- Weathersfield Township has been reimbursed $181,177 for 2002 by the state.
Trustee Fred Bobovnyk said Tuesday the reimbursements are to continue through 2006.
The reimbursement comes as a result of deregulation of utilities and from a property tax rollback to utility companies in the township for such things as a gas transmission, electric lines, a substation or power plant.
Bobovnyk said the funds have already been allocated to individual department funds and must be used in those specifically.
The general fund will get $20,131; road department, $10,438; police department, $110,346; and fire department, $40,262.
Bobovnyk said the additional money to the general fund may help add on to the township administration building over the next few years.
Raises approved
Trustees approved raises for four road department employees in a contract agreement with the Ohio Civil Service Employee Association, raising their hourly rate by 75 cents an hour for each of the three years of the contract.
The contract term is July 1 to June 30, 2005. Pay rates will be $13.58 an hour for the mechanic; $13.55 an hour for the cemetery sexton, $12.67 an hour for the Class 1 truck driver/laborer and $10.87 an hour for the Class 2 truck driver/laborer.
Trustees announced the speed limit on Watson-Marshall Road, from Salt Springs Road to Owsley-McDonald Road, will be reduced to 35 mph from 40 mph.
The 2002 paving project is expected to begin around the week of June 17 and the township will buy a backhoe and a truck for the road department at a total cost of $107,093 through the state cooperative purchasing group.
The township will pay L.T. Boccia Construction and Demolition, Niles, $16,375 for the 2002 demolition project of five condemned homes at 3120 Youngstown Road; 2898 Covington St., 2356 Ninth St.; 2312 Ninth St. and 1313 Harrison St.
