HOWLAND -- The Ohio State Highway Patrol is trying to identify a woman found dead in a ditch near state Route 82 Tuesday morning.
Lt. William Thompson said officials think she is from Summit County.
"We are contacting people we believe to be relatives of the woman, and we need to get a positive identification," Thompson said. "We have troopers going to Akron with pictures to talk to people."
Thompson said he does not know how the woman died but noted there were no signs of foul play.
The Trumbull County Coroner's office said an autopsy was to be performed today.
Thompson said a trooper noticed a car sitting along Route 82 near state Route 46. "The trooper ran the plate through the computer system, and he learned that the person who was last known to be driving it had been reported as a missing person from Akron."
Thompson said the trooper found the woman lying face down in high weeds. It appeared she fell down a 25-foot embankment.
He said the only other information police have on the woman is that she had some sort of disability.
