HARTVILLE -- Monty Roberts, internationally renowned horse trainer and best-selling author of "The Man Who Listens to Horses," will demonstrate his training techniques at Canton Civic Center at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Roberts, also called "the real horse whisperer," trains based on the language of horses and avoids force. His career began as a stunt double, and his methods have been used to train the horses of Queen Elizabeth II since 1989.
Proceeds from the show benefit Pegasus Farm, a nonprofit organization in Hartville that serves Mahoning, Summit, Trumbull, Stark, Portage, Cuyahoga, Tuscarawas and Carroll counties. The organization provides therapeutic horseback riding for people with disabilities.
Tickets can be bought from Pegasus Farm at (330) 935-2300. General admission is $25; VIP tickets, which include a catered reception with Roberts before the event and preferred seating, are $75.
