SANDLOT Repec swings big bat in B loop

STRUTHERS -- Matt Repec's four hits included two homers and a double, and he drove in 10 runs as Line Drive Academy defeated Lazart, 23-8, Sunday in Class B Baseball action at Cene Park.
One of Repec's homers was a grand slam. Mike Hanck added a double and a home run for the Line Drive (7-3). Dan Ford and Erin Satterlee had three hits each.
Ryan Carr (2-1) picked up the pitching win. For Lazart (1-9), Justin Kurlichick's three hits included a triple as he drove in two runs. Dean Stokes had two hits.
Astro Falcons 12, Youngstown Propane 11: After trailing 8-0, the Falcons rallied to win by scoring three times in the bottom of the eighth inning to pin the first loss on first-place Propane (9-1).
Dan Leonard and Chad Baker had three hits each for Astros (6-4), who scored three times in the sixth inning to tie the game.
Astros, who had started the year at 0-3, won for the sixth time in their last seven games John Hay got the win in relief to go to 2-0.
Adam Coco doubled to start the bottom of the eighth and scored on a single by Leonard. After Jim Eimiller singled, a passed ball advanced both runners. Baker hit a sacrifice fly to tie the game and on the play Miller went to third. Miller scored the game winning run on a wild pitch.
Jared Bogan had three hits for Propane, along with Chris Russo who had three runs batted in. Russo and Andrew Good hit home runs for Propane .
Becdir 20, Roth Bros. 9: After a three-game losing streak, Becdir (7-3) has won four straight for a second-place tie with Line Drive.
Eight of Becdir's 18 hits were for extra bases as John Scilullo had three hits and seven runs batted in.
Matt Bradley had four hits while John Shaffo added three. Matt Brown picked up the win in relief as he allowed just one run in 21/3 innings .
FOR ROTH (3-7), STEVE RIPPLE, KYLE IRISH AND JOE MCCRACKIN HAD TWO HITS EACH.
Riordans 4, Livi Steel 2: Greg Mentrek (2-1) fired a complete-game six-hitter, allowing one earned run and striking out five.
Mentrek was helped by two hits from Josh Pratt while Mike Bashline and Jeff Watson had two runs batted in each for Riordans (5-5).
For Livi (5-5), Phil Butch's two hits included a double while Luke Strike (2-1) struck out six in going the distance.
Youngstown Express 9, Rondinelli Tuxedo 8: After giving up four runs and the lead in the top of the seventh inning, the Express (3-7) rallied for three runs and the victory.
Bob Kaaikaula had three hits and Chuck Horner two to pace Express. Josh Sommers (1-1) picked up the win in relief.
For Rondinelli (4-6), Dean Palumbaro, Mike DeNiro and Greg Rohan had two hits each. Rohan had a solo home run in the second inning for Rondinelli who committed six errors. Josh Sommers picked up the win in relief to even his record at 1-1.
Class AA: YOUNGSTOWN -- Two Pal Joey's/New Affair pitchers limited DiCiccio's to one hit in a 7-4 victory. Jim Putko, Vic Franceschelli and Jay Lowkowski each had two hits.
Jolly Joe's 6, Tri-County 1: Dennis Golubic scattered five hits to pick up the win. Caleb Goist had three hits for Joe's.
Brent Timko had two hits for Tri-County.
Jolly Joe's 15, Roth Bros. 2: Goist had three hits while Matt Raiti and Ross Buttle had two apiece for Joe's.
Jeff Gruber and Mike Hosterman had the Roth hits.
Pal Joey's/New Affair 4, Tri-County 2: Joe Marzano's two hits included a homer.
