Answering call, cop is shot in leg

WARREN -- A city police officer is in stable condition at Forum Health Trumbull Memorial Hospital after being shot in the leg.
Ben Harrell was shot early today while responding to a call on the corner of Austin Avenue and Oak Street Southwest.
The call was for a burglary in progress.
Police Chief John Mandopoulos said Harrell was shot once in the leg. The chief said he thinks Harrell was accidentally shot by another police officer.
The chief said the shooting is being investigated and more information should be available later today.
