Partnership aims to preserve local history
YOUNGSTOWN -- After collecting data from more than 355 landmarks in Mahoning County, the Sacred Landmarks Partnership of Northeastern Ohio now plans to expand its research area to include Trumbull and Columbiana counties.
The Urban University Program Centers at Cleveland State University, Youngstown State University, Kent State University and the University of Akron all participate in the partnership, which aims to preserve and document the heritage of area religious organizations.
Photographs are being taken of all religious institutions in Mahoning County to document their presence, and sacred landmarks archives have been organized at each of the participating universities.
