Johnny Appleseed marks anniversary

CANFIELD -- The Johnny Appleseed Garden Club observed its 40th anniversary May 30 at Tippecanoe Country Club.
Joan Gallito presided for the dinner buffet and business meeting.
A red, white and blue theme was carried out in the decorations and favors.
Special guest was Nancy Ort, the club's first president when it was organized in 1962. Nancy Caylor of Tampa, Fla., named the organization.
Charter members in attendance were Jane Evans and Harriet Deeds. Other special guests were former presidents Carol Micco and Cooky Orton.
