Mercer County gets 10 recreational grants



MERCER, Pa. -- The state has approved 10 recreational grants totaling nearly $350,000 to aid park, playground and trail developments in Mercer County.
State Sen. Robert Robbins of Greenville, R-50th, and state Reps. Michael Gruitza of Hermitage, D-7th, and Rod Wilt of Greenville, R-17th, said the money comes from the Community Conservation Partnership Program run by the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources.
The grants are:
U$103,000 to Mercer County Regional Council of Governments to develop Trout Island Trail in Hermitage.
U$50,000 to Sharon to develop the Jefferson Street and Wengler Avenue playgrounds.
U$35,000 to Hempfield Township to develop Hempfield Township Community Park.
U$33,000 to Clark to develop Henderson Taylor Community Park.
U$28,000 to the Buhl Farm Trust to renovate the baseball field in Buhl Farm, Hermitage.
U$29,000 to Wolf Creek Township to develop Wolf Creek Township Community Park.
U$25,000 to Jackson Center to develop Wesley McAfoose Community Park.
U$24,000 to Pymatuning Township to develop Pymatuning Township Community Park.
U$17,000 to Farrell to rehabilitate Emerson Avenue Playground the Southwest Gardens play area and park and Veterans Square.
U $12,500 to Jefferson Township to develop a master site plan for a 109-acre community park.
