MAHONING COUNTY Grant applications

Eleven Mahoning County communities submitted applications for federal Community Development Block Grants to county commissioners. The applications, filed Thursday, seek more than $1 million. Commissioners will announce June 27 which projects will be funded. The county's allocation from the block grant program is $479,500, and commissioners cannot approve more than six projects. The projects for which applications were submitted are:
Austintown, $107,750 for drainage improvements to the Wickliffe area including the installation of 1,300 feet of storm-sewer lines.
Coitsville, $97,000, for Milligan Road safety upgrade, including resurfacing the road and installing 400 feet of storm-sewer lines.
Goshen, $50,650, for resurfacing the Damascus Street area.
Green, $22,630, to demolish dilapidated structures and improve the community park.
Jackson, $91,000, to install 2,200 feet of sanitary-sewer lines on North Salem-Warren Road.
Lowellville, $82,300, to replace about 3,000 feet of sidewalks in the North Lowellville Investment Area.
Poland Township, $154,200, to install 5,350 feet of waterlines in the Farm Avenue area.
Poland Village, $67,000, to resurface 2,300 feet of Massachusetts Avenue.
Sebring, $200,000, for infrastructure improvements in the village's downtown.
Smith, $95,400, to extend waterlines on Lake Park, Oak Street and Bandy Road.
Springfield, $135,000, to install 1,800 feet of storm-sewer lines in the southern portion of New Springfield.
