City council handled these items Wednesday:
Waived water and sewer tap-in fees and building permit fees for operators of the Ohio Brewing Co., which will use the B & amp;O Station for microbrewery and restaurant. The facility is scheduled to open this month.Expressed council's intent to provide $25,000 in federal community development money to the Youngstown Playhouse for 2002-03.Heard Bill Watterson of Youngstown urge that the city take a more active role in protecting children from lead poisoning. He asked that landlords who violate the laws be prosecuted and that a backlog of cases be given priority.Heard Mike Lacivita of Youngstown complain about potholes in the city. It took five calls in one month to the city before the holes got filled that he complained about.Appropriated $45,000 to pay salaries of three Mahoning County deputy sheriffs who provide litter law enforcement.Approved appropriations totaling $7.9 million of the city's federal money for 2002-03.Appropriated $170,000 to provide funding to complete the city council chamber renovations.Increased appropriations by $207,759 for the Federal Street reconstruction project.Appropriated $300,000 to replace the elevator and roof at the city-owned Wick building.Prohibited parking on the south side of Wood Street between Belmont and Fifth avenues.Amended the city's rules and regulations governing use of city vehicles by workers.Authorized the board of control to contract with the lowest and best bidder after advertising for bids for the removal and disposal of dead animals in the city.
