WARREN -- City police and FBI agents raided a Carlton Drive Northwest home and confiscated almost a half-million dollars.
Raided was the home of siblings Lucy and Robert Perfette, officials said. No arrests were made, but Robert Perfette was detained at the house for about two hours.
Officials said the money, about $455,000 in cash, was hidden inside the home but would not say how the money was found or what prompted the raid.
Agents with the FBI are expected to file a return of the search warrant later today in U.S. District Court in Youngstown. FBI agents are also expected to issue a press release, officials said.
This is one of several raids the FBI has done in the Trumbull County area over the past few months.
John J. Kane of the FBI's Youngstown office said in November that officials were looking into illegal gambling and other wrongdoing.
FBI and city police executed 21 federal search warrants in Niles, Warren and Lordstown in November.
The warrants stated at that time that numerous gambling records, football pool cards and betting slips were confiscated. No arrests have been made and no indictments have been issued.
Officials said a federal grand jury in Cleveland has begun hearing the evidence.
