Police charge 19-year-old with setting house on fire

SHARON, Pa. -- Police arrested a 19-year-old Buckeye Drive, Sharpsville, man they said set fire to a relative's house at 1263 Heinz Ave.
The suspect was at a family gathering at the home Wednesday evening but got into a fight with a friend there around 10:30 p.m. and then got into an argument with his own relatives, police said.
He threatened to burn down the house with his relatives inside, police said.
The suspect left the house but returned a short time later carrying a five-gallon can filled with a mixture of gasoline and oil and poured the mixture on the sides of the house and lighted it, police said.
People in the house saw him and chased him away. They were also able to extinguish the fire before it did too much damage, police said.
Officers searching for the suspect found him around 2 a.m. in the emergency room at Sharon Regional Health System's hospital, where he had gone to seek help.
He was arrested and charged with arson, attempted homicide, making terroristic threats and recklessly endangering another person. He was scheduled for arraignment on those charges later today.
