HOWLAND -- Ohio Department of Transportation crews will be spot paving state Route 82 at the westbound ramp from state Route 11 northbound beginning at 7 p.m. today.
Traffic will be maintained during the work, scheduled to end at 6 a.m. Thursday.
Woman hurt in break-in
HUBBARD -- An elderly Hubbard Township woman is hospitalized after a break-in at her home early today.
Detective Mike Begeot said the woman in her 90s was being treated this morning at St. Elizabeth Health Center after being struck by the burglar. He said the injuries are not life-threatening.
Begeot said the burglar kicked in the front door of her home in the 3000 block of Franklin Avenue between 2:30 and 3 a.m. She was struck by the burglar after she was awakened while he was rummaging through her bedroom.
It doesn't appear that anything was taken, the detective added.
Road to close for race
AUSTINTOWN -- Norquest Boulevard from state Route 46 to the entrance of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church will be closed to traffic starting at 7 p.m. Thursday for the church festival's 5K run.
The roadway will reopen after about 45 minutes.
Runners may register for the race beginning at 5 p.m. in front of the school. Entrance fee is $10 in advance, or $12 the day of the race.

Cars hit with eggs
YOUNGSTOWN -- Two drivers, one on South Hazelwood Avenue and one on Overlook Avenue, told police their cars were egged Tuesday by Chaney High School students. Police have the suspects' names.
Three girls threw eggs from a 1989 Oldsmobile Ciera on South Hazelwood, near the high school, and two boys threw eggs from a 2000 Pontiac Grand Am on Overlook, police said.
Facing assault charge
YOUNGSTOWN -- A basketball hurled at an Eagle Heights Academy teacher seated at his desk bent the man's glasses Tuesday and resulted in the arrest of a 15-year-old student.
The East Hilton Avenue boy had been told to hand over the basketball, which he was bouncing in the classroom, police said. The boy was taken by police from the Market Street school to the juvenile justice center, charged with assault.
Storms cause damage
LEETONIA -- There were scattered reports of damage from a series of thunderstorms that moved quickly through Columbiana County.
A Columbiana County Sheriff's Department dispatcher said Tuesday evening a tornado alert had been issued but could not confirm reports that a tornado touched down in the county.
A Leetonia Fire Department spokeswoman said there were reports of high winds and hail in the area of Lisbon-Canfield Road and Lodge Road.
Restraining order
CAMPBELL -- A restraining order was issued against John E. Santoro, 32, of 141 Courtland Avenue during his arraignment in municipal court Tuesday morning.
Santoro is charged with domestic violence involving his 21-year-old live-in girlfriend. The woman was treated after being taken to the hospital by ambulance.
Woman sentenced
CAMPBELL -- Faye B. Hildreth, 51, of 223 Mumford Road, Youngstown, was sentenced to 30 days in jail, which was suspended, six months' probation and 20 hours of community service after pleading guilty to a misdemeanor assault charge in municipal court Tuesday.
Hildreth was also fined $50 plus court costs and ordered to send a written apology to the VFW Post 6488, 2065 Coitsville-Hubbard Road, Coitsville, where she reportedly pushed, punched and tried to run over a 72-year-old Oak Street woman after an argument March 29.
Hildreth was originally charged with assault and attempted felonious assault.
