YOUNGSTOWN -- Sunday's Miracle Network Telethon raised more than $840,000, including about $40,000 in local pledges, for Forum Health Tod Children's Hospital.
Tina Shanker, manager of fund development for the hospital, said about $800,000 of the total was from national sponsors and local special events such as a golf tournament.
The money is used to buy medical equipment and fund programs and services, such as the Community Care Fund, which helps qualifying families with the cost of medical care at Tod hospital, Shanker said.
Columbiana housing fair
COLUMBIANA -- A housing fair will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Community Action Agency of Columbiana County, 7880 Lincole Place. Local lenders, real estate agents and staff members from community service programs will be available to answer questions about homeownership, down payment assistance programs and refinancing.
The event is sponsored by the Community Action Agency and the U.S. Department of Agriculture-Rural Development.
