Man's body identified
BUTLER, Pa. (AP) -- Police have identified a body found in a carwash last month as an Ohio man reported missing more than two weeks ago and say the man last seen driving his minivan has committed suicide.
State Police identified the body as that of James P. Silver, 56, of Jefferson, Ohio. Police are investigating the death as a homicide. Silver was strangled, an autopsy shows.
Silver's body was found May 12 in a self-serve carwash near Harmony, Butler County. His ex-wife, Betty Silver, reported him missing May 16.
Police say Edward Kerr, 37, of McKeesport, was last seen in Silver's 1989 Dodge Caravan. Kerr was seen driving the van around the Pittsburgh area and it was found within a block of UPMC McKeesport Hospital.
Kerr checked in to the hospital May 14 and hanged himself with a bedsheet May 25, the Allegheny County Coroner's Office says. Police have not identified a suspect.
