Police find car they sought in death of man

Boardman police are holding the car while they get a search warrant.
BOARDMAN -- Investigators hope the discovery of a 1987 Cadillac will lead them to the person responsible for the death of a 71-year-old Struthers man.
Township police, with the assistance of Struthers detectives, found the dark blue car late Saturday in the 100 block of East Myrtle Avenue in Youngstown.
They believe the vehicle was involved in the death of John K. Ruble Sr. of Struthers on Friday afternoon.
No arrests have been made.
The car is being held at Boardman Police Department while police get a search warrant.
Police say Ruble attempted to stop a suspect who stole his wife's purse from their car as they unloaded material at the recycling center behind the Boardman fire station on South Avenue.
Legs crushed
Ruble was dragged by the car. The driver backed up, crushing Ruble's legs under the tires, police said. He died in an ambulance on the way to St. Elizabeth Health Center.
Police said they were looking for a car with damage to the driver's side. The car found Saturday in Youngstown had such damage, as well as other physical evidence matching clues at the crime scene, police said.
Investigators with the South County Homicide Task Force interviewed witnesses and followed up several leads over the weekend.
Police said they are seeking a white male in his early 20s with a slender build who is very short with dark hair and a pointed nose. He was wearing a white T-shirt.
