Large traffic jams lead to few problems

BOARDMAN -- Despite major jams from what one official said was possibly the most traffic ever in Boardman, police say there were few problems during a busy weekend along U.S. Route 224, between Poland and Canfield.
"In general, it was pretty quiet," Capt. Richard Sell of the Boardman Police Department said about the hectic weekend that featured the Hod Rod Super Nationals, the Easter Seal Society carnival and a Friday night concert at B & amp;B Backstage, behind Bull & amp; Bear Tavern.
Sell said traffic Saturday on Route 224 was probably the heaviest the township has experienced. He said it took some motorists three hours to travel the approximate two-mile stretch between Poland and the center of Boardman.
Nevertheless, Sell said there were no major problems.
Loud music at the concert, behind the Bull & amp; Bear Tavern, drew several complaints from neighbors, but otherwise created few problems, Sell said. The tavern hired several Mahoning County deputy sheriffs for security.
"They pretty much handled everything themselves," Sell said.
