Coach assumesresponsibility for DQ
Fanfare:
As another season ends for boys high school tennis, I must apologize to a talented young athlete who had a great season, earned the top seed in the Boardman sectional and had his sights set on returning to the State tournament in Columbus, Donald Person of Ursuline High School. Unfortunately, due to my error, Donald arrived for his first match ten minutes late and was then disqualified without ever playing a point. The tournament official makes the final call, and has discretionary authority, in such circumstances; however, the ultimate blame must lie with me as Donald's coach. I can only ask that we as coaches, officials and parents, make every effort to support, and never lose sight of, the most important part of any high school sport, the kids.
